File Submission:

In order to print your book, we need to receive a formatted copy of the text and cover. By formatted, we mean that it must meet specific size and margin requirements, as well as be converted to a PDF file so that it is compatible with our printing and binding apparatus. You are able to convert your text (probably saved to your personal computer in a .doc, .wpd or .rtf file) to a PDF file by downloading some simple software or using an online service. We recommend CutePDF Writer, which you can download for free from www.cutepdf.com; or PDFonline, which lets you upload your files and they do the conversion for you. Just follow the instructions and either email or mail us the file. If you need help with this conversion process, we are available to walk you through the steps, or even to convert it for you at an additional fee. Please see our services page for more information.

We use a “perfect binding” on our books which, in publishing lingo, indicates that of a trade paperback you would find in a bookstore. The standard size of these paperbacks is 5 x 8 inches. We use white, 20lb., 100% recycled printing paper as our standard paper stock, and a thicker, fibrous matte paper for the covers. We print the cover in full color, any additional color within the book’s interior is feasible, but at an additional cost. Likewise, you can choose a heavier paper stock or a glossy finish cover sheet at additional costs. Please see our printing prices and services pages for more information.

If you plan on formatting your own book, please use one of the templates below. These files are set up with the proper margins, so your text will not be hindered by the binding process. When designing your cover please contact us with the number of pages in your book, and we will tell you how wide your spine should be.
