Formatting:
Even a finished manuscript that is ready for printing still needs to be formatted. In order for us to print and bind your book, you need to convert it into a PDF file. If you would like us to format the files for you, our formatting fee starts at $75. Files must be given to us electronically, either through e-mail or on a disc, and must be a .rtf or .doc file.

Cover Design :
If you have a cover picked out already, that's wonderful. But if you have an idea of what you want, and just can't seem to make it perfect, that's okay too. Whether you need a cover created from scratch, or just need help finding the right stock photo, we can help. Fees are based on ther amount of time needed for your project. Contact us about a custom quote.

Proofs:
For $25, we will print a single copy of your book and mail it to you for your approval. You will then have two weeks to make changes or suggestions. If we have made a formatting error or you would like to make a minor change to the text, we will correct the problem at no additional charge. However, if you decide to make significant changes to the text at this stage, additional charges (by the hour) will be incurred.

ISBN/Barcode:
For $100, we can obtain an ISBN number for you. This 10-digit identification number — the International Standard Book Number — includes a barcode, which allows booksellers and libraries to order, stock and sell books. If you are considering listing your title in Books in Print, the industry directory used by wholesalers, distributors and bookstores to order books, you will definitely want to get an ISBN. You can register yourself at www.isbn.org, or we can do it for you.

Copyright:
For the most secure federal protection from misappropriation of the content of your book, we recommend that you apply for an official copyright for your book. You can apply yourself at www.copyright.gov, or we can do it for you for $100.

Marketing Materials:
Once you've printed your book, you want to tell the world that it is available, and how it can be bought. We can help to design and print postcards, event posters, and business cards, so you can begin promoting your book.

Author Websites:
If you already have a website, we can add it to our Links page. If you do not have a website yet, or would like a separate website for your book, we can host your site for a year, build you a 5-page site, including a blog if you would like, for $300. Additional years of hosting cost $100.

Distribution:
By printing your book with The Troy Book Makers, your book will be represented in Market Block Books, The Bookloft and The Book House of Stuyvesant Plaza for six months on a consignment basis. Additionally, if you buy an ISBN and Barcode from us, your book will automatically be listed in Books in Print, making your book available to thousands of bookstores around the world. Authors can also choose to have their book listed for sale through our online store, TBM Books.com.

Premium paper stock:
The interior pages of your book will be printed on 100% recycled, 20lb text paper. But you also have the option of choosing a higher-grade paper stock for a book of any length at an additional charge.

Premium cover stock:
Your book will automatically have a matte white cover, with color printing. But many upgrade options are available; we have in-stock options such as linen-finish or glossy covers, but can also order other fine papers. Usually, a cover stock upgrade costs an additional 50 cents to $2 per copy. If you would like a full-color-bleed cover, it typically costs an additional $1 per copy.

Editing:
We have a working relationship with a several professional editors, each of whom has a great deal of experience with copyediting (for grammar, syntax, typos, etc) and line editing (for content and organization). We can refer you to one of these editors for one or both of these editorial services.

Graphic Design:
If you would like a more custom look for your book, we can help you design your book from cover to cover. Should you choose this option, our specialists here at The Troy Book Makers will work with you to design a cover, as well as a unique interior. You can customize a template we have designed, or even work with our specialist to collectively create a new one. And because formatting a file with graphics can sometimes be a tricky endeavor, we also can assist you to format the graphics that will appear within the text.
